PLASTIC FARM IN FRIGGIN' NEWSPAPERS

THE GAZETTE

I can't believe they printed this line: ‘‘What if Jesus came back as an 18-year-old drug addict?” Roberts asked as a thought exercise. ‘‘Nothing is off-limits in ‘Plastic Farm’.” READ THE WHOLE THING HERE.

The pages behind me in the picture are from PART TWO, in case anyone was wondering...

THE FREDERICK NEWS POST

On PLASTIC FARM: SOWING SEEDS ON FERTILE SOIL:

"The interplay of images and text, with a definite story arc, allows for more control over an audience than a conventional novel, he said, where readers have more leeway to shape characters and scenes in their imagination.

"It's closer to mind control," Roberts said."

ALBINO LEPERBOY:
http://shines.podomatic.com/entry/2008-05-31T13_28_08-07_00

Quote of the month: "Kind of like SANDMAN but a lot more psychological and twisted and psychopathically brilliant."

Stephen Hines, aka Albino Leperboy, has given PLASTIC FARM a shoutout in his most recent podcast. Cool part is that The Albino Leperboy Show is primarily a music show, so getting a mention is pretty sweet. This show includes tunes from The Unband, The Dresden Dolls, King's X, The Wildhearts/Super Furry Animals, and Throw Rag.

Matt Price and Greg Elwell at the Daily Oklahoman interviewed me discussing PLASTIC FARM and the TPB. Please listen to it at the above link.

Here is how Matt describes the show: "Greg Elwell and I talk to Rafer Roberts of “Plastic Farm” in this week’s comic book podcast. As a bonus, Greg didn’t have the ability to hear anything Rafer was saying. Check it out!" So you know it's gonna be interesting!

COMIC BOOK ATTIC:

The interview I recorded with Michael Pindell at Comic Book Attic is now up.

"I am going to wait until Nan gets home before I listen to this, as I am scared. Even though I am perfectly aware that everything I do is fucking awesome and I am sure I come across as completely sane and in complete control of all of my mental facilities."

PLASTIC FARM ONLINE INTERVIEWS:

GEEKS OF DOOM

The interview I did a few months ago with T.E. Pouncy at Geeks of Doom has gone up. It's definitely in the Top 3 in terms of questions I got. To put it another way, at no point was I able to copy and paste an answer to one of T.E.'s questions from any other interview I have ever done. Not that I ever do that. You should go read it.

Admit it. You really want to see how I answer this one: "TEP: In Plastic Farm and another of your stories, Grandpaw’s Tale, you present the idea that religious belief can sometimes do a person more harm than good. Why, do you think, has organized religion produced famous unbalanced fanatics like Jim Jones and David Koresh?" Also, since the interview was done a LONG time ago you might want to refer back to http://www.plasticfarm.com for a more updated answer I gave to Question Eleven: "TEP: Do you have any new projects that will be completed by the end of 2007?"

PLASTIC FARM PODCAST ARCHIVE PAGE!

Sometime in 2005, I first tried my hand at making a podcast to help promote Plastic Farm. Way more effort than I was willing to put into it at the time, and more effort than I'm willing to put into it now too. I did 7 "broadcasts" of mostly random music before going on hiatus for a while. Then in July of 2007 I made a pretty ambitious attempt at returning to the podcast world. The Plastic Farm Comic Book Dance Party featured some random tunes, but also me doing some sort of Directors Commentary on the first issue of Plastic Farm. It took me just that one show to realize that I just can't talk that much about my comics without some sort of prompting.

Anyway, here are all 8 Plastic Farm podcasts, along with intros and tracklistings where applicable, preserved for historical purposes.

PLASTIC FARM COMIC BOOK DANCE PARTY

The Plastic Farm podcast has returned with a brand new format.

I am now doing a "director's commentary" style podcast where I ramble on incoherantly about each issue of Plastic Farm while trying to drown out the sounds of monkeys and roosters and industrial machines. Each episode, which is planned to be monthly (but we'll see how that goes), will also feature a few tracks from the various Plastic Farm soundtracks as well as a few tracks that were left off.

In this first episode of the Comic Book Dance Party I discuss Plastic Farm #1, why I smoke, how I come up with this shit, and play some music that I probably shouldn't.

Here is the link that you can copy and paste into iTunes (or whatever your preferred podcast software is):

THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC FARM PODCASTS

"Why aren't there full track listings?"

I must tell you what goes into making the Plastic Farm Podcast. The music chosen for the podcast is an eclectic mixture of tunes found in the back alleys of the internet, or that were given to me by random people, or were just randomly downloaded by my computer while I was asleep. Some of the tunes do not have proper ID tags and only show up as "Untitled" or "Track 1" or ". . . . . . . . . . . ."

I have no idea what half of these songs are or where most of them came from. But I know where they are now. Infecting my hard drive and poisoning your mind.
