~About Plastic Farm~

by Rafer Roberts

"Plastic Farm is a strange and unnerving comic book. Like photographs documenting a bear mauling or shark attack, it is physically uncomfortable to read and nearly impossible to put down...Rafer Roberts is scary and brilliant."

-Punk Planet on issues #6-8

Plastic Farm follows the life of a man named Chester and his slow descent into complete insanity, and chronicles how that madness reshapes the world around him. Chester has had a rough childhood, has a magic cowboy that rides a dinosaur living inside of his head, and is now, late in life, sitting in a nameless airport bar during a blizzard telling his life story to a group of people who really couldn't care less.

The first story arc "Sowing Seeds on Fertile Soil" encompasses the first twelve issues, and introduces nearly every major character that will appear in this projected 40-50 issue series. These twelve issues are available to purchase at finer comic shops around the world, or through this site. A big fat collection of these issues is also available for purchase.

The Plastic Farm OGN, Fertilizer, is also currently on sale (or available for preorder depending on how early I've updated this site.) It is fucking awesome.

Check out the "Cast" portion of this site to meet some of the other characters of Plastic Farm.

Preview and purchase the comic by clicking on the "Preview and Buy" link.

"News" will open up the Plastic Farm LiveJournal, which I hope to update more often than the old news section.

"Retailers" opens up a page of tools to help retailers sell Plastic Farm, as well as an incomplete list of stores where Plastic Farm can be purchased.

There will be three major arcs in Plastic Farm, two in-between issues, a prologue and an epilogue. The second story arc begins in issue fourteen and is entitled "Seasons of Growth in the Fields of Despair". Issue thirteen is one of those in-between issues I mentioned before and will be about 120 pages.

Plastic Farm began as a series of tabloid-sized minicomics back in the year 2000. Four issues came out in that format before I decided to try publishing the book in a standard format.
